Notice how the driver doesn't even tap their brakes before hitting the train. See, people in cars have lots of options. They can slow down, speed up, they can swerve, they can bail out, they have all sorts of things that they can do when approached by the prospect of running into a gigantic, slow moving steel machine. Engineers can only blow their horns and watch the fireworks. This is why you so rarely see a car actually hit a train, and not the other way around.
